Permanent Impairment Assessment

If the condition has reached maximum medical improvement and no further treatment has been recommended by the treating team, then permanent impairment can be assessed in accordance with GEPI and the AMA Guide.

No further treatment or surgery has been recommended.
The condition has reached maximum medical improvement.
The worker has decided not to seek any further treatment.

Independent Medical Examination

If there are questions regarding treatment options, the necessity and relevance of requested surgery, or concerns related to rehabilitation needs and return-to-work prospects, an independent medical assessment can be arranged to address these issues.

The condition is not stable and stationary.
The worker is still experiencing symptoms despite exhaustive rehabilitation and treatment.
Questions relating to requested surgery or treatment pathway.
The worker has not had any specialist input or recommendation regarding their condition.
